In detail
Avocado for Free Teleprompter
There's no shortage of low-quality, ad-infested web teleprompters online. But when you need a reliable, professional tool, you need a native macOS application. Avocado operates an incredibly robust free teleprompter tier. With the free version, you can utilize the precise Apple Silicon Notch-docking mechanism, change text formatting entirely, utilize the scroll speeds, and access the total Screen-Share Invisibility architecture securely on your Mac. We never gatekeep privacy or basic functionality. If you're still weighing the options, here's what "free" actually gets you across every teleprompter, browser tools included. When you are ready for advanced on-device voice tracking, you can easily upgrade to Avocado Pro. Not on a Mac right now? Our free online teleprompter runs in any browser, with your script kept on your device. Need something to read on your first run? Try one of our practice scripts.

Avocado doesn't require an internet connection or account at any tier. It runs fully on-device, meaning your scripts are never uploaded to a server and the app works in any environment — including studios, flights, or locations without Wi-Fi.
Browser-based teleprompters display as a visible window and will appear in screen recordings and video call feeds unless carefully cropped. Avocado's free tier avoids this entirely — it renders in the MacBook notch and is excluded from video capture at the OS level, which no browser-based tool can replicate.
